Consumer Evaluations
I bought this toy for my son and myself, and I have to say I have been properly pleased with its construction, durability and functionality. The toy has taken a quantity of hard crashes into buildings, concrete, and trees -- so its tuff, damn tuff, but how properly does it fly? Firstly, its alot more a effective bird as compared to any of the tiny battery powered helicopters I have previously bought or seen. It flies high, 100 feet and it desires a lot of space to actually take pleasure in flying it. You can fly it in the backyard, but I get I spend more time worrying about crashing it into the house than really getting enjoyable.
The gyro's maintain the copter level and present pinpoint turning -- Meaning that It spins around whereas hovering in mid-air. The flight challenge is to preserve the copter's hight steady, although moving the copter forward. Again, turning is not an concern, its balancing the hight and forward path that is troublesome. A single reviewer mentioned that it will not fly forward or backward having said that this is not the case. Right after a couple of days of practice each my 9 year old and I could pilot the copter reasonably nicely. I got about 15 minutes of flying time for just about every hour of charging. With the high studying curve this can make for some frustration. Is it worth acquiring? Yeah, its fun, and my son and I got a huge kick out of it -- primarily at night as it lights up! But, personally I wondered if it could possibly not be worth it to spend a little alot more income and order a bigger copter that is easer to fly.
Bottom Line: This copter is fun, sturdy, will and could possibly well satisfy your demands -- if you put some time in learning to fly it.
1st R/C helicopter I've ever owned -- not new to the R/C scene, though (and I have a excellent understanding of how real helicopters fly and operate). It took me a small getting made use of to (therefore the "tough for beginners" comment), but straightforward to master (hence the "effortless for intermediates" comment).
A lot of the other critiques have covered most of the problems -- right here are my additional thoughts:
- Flies fairly well proper out of the box -- continuously demands to be trimmed on the rotational axis and, as a person else noted, preserving height/hover manage is a bit difficult.
- The Swift/Slow toggle switch is wonderful for controlling your speed indoors (use the Slow setting). I've yet to fly this outdoors (darned winter...mid-December 2010 as I write this), so haven't seriously tried the Swift setting. It does appear to fly noticeably quicker in the Fast setting.
- Only actual unfavorable that I've encountered so far (prevented this from obtaining a complete five-star rating in my book) is that the good quality manage is a touch lacking -- one particular of the wires soldered onto the On/Off switch came loose on the 2nd flight, requiring me to have to re-solder the wire (and asking for my wife's aid, as it was definitely a three-hand operation).
And it looks like I got a deal, the price seems to have gone up by about $20 since I purchased it!
